The Reason For Giving Back

We always talk about giving back. We talk about where to give money and how to give your time. It’s important to give back and why you should. But what do you really give back for? If you are giving back because of sweet tax breaks or a really cool mention in the local paper than you have been giving back for the wrong reasons. Charity isn’t about what it can do for you. So, if it’s not about you, and it’s about others, then why are you not giving back?

The reality is that giving back is about being the very best that you can be. It’s about learning that while you have problems and they certainly won’t just go away, there are others out there who have it far worse than you do. It should serve as a reminder that for all the bad things in your life you should be grateful for the opportunities that you have.

You should give back to charity because people would do it for you. Or at the very least people should do it for you. It’s about a ying and a yang of life. It’s about people realizing that it’s about what you give back and what comes back to you that should be equal. It’s about stepping outside yourself and giving yourself to others. Once you can be thoughtful and generous with your time you can do just about anything. It’s the most important part of your day. It’s the best thing you do and you should be rewarded for it. Don’t make the mistake of losing your way. You deserve to help people and there are people that deserve to be helped. Giving back says a lot about the person you are.

The Reason To Give Back

It’s easy to get caught up in your own life. You lead a busy life that’s stressful. Still, it’s no excuse not to think about others. There are plenty of people out there who are in need and it’s important that you help them no matter what.  You can often do this conveniently and easily through various charity organizations like Kars for Kids.

The good news is that there are a number of organizations that are in need of a solid donation. From charities that help the homeless to those that help fight against cancer, there is no shortage of ways you can give back to those in need.

One of the great things about many charities is the work they do for children. There are plenty of charities that see the value of helping out children. Children suffer in several different ways that differ from the needs of adults. Plenty of children have educational needs that aren’t being met in their homes and their schools. These days a child is nothing without an education.

You may also want to choose a charity that provides child sponsorships. By helping the charity, you are helping an individual child and may even receive notices and information about the progress of that child as the charity uses donations to make a difference in that child’s community. It could be free medical care, construction of schools or similar services.

One of the great charities available to children is Kars for Kids. They accept the donation of cars and are helping those at risk youths who suffer from emotional, physical and educational distress get a better life. There are few charities out there that are more worthwhile than this.

Charities, no matter the target, deserve your financial consideration. It’s important to give back to those who are in need. It will give you an overwhelming sense of pride and that feeling cannot be measured. You can look online and find the charity that is right for you, but whatever you do, you should give back.

Rahm’s Twitter For Charity

It appears that charity these days is the sincerest form of smoking out an imitator. The former chief of staff for the Obama administration, Rahm Emanuel, has found himself learning that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and that his is willing to reward that sincerity with a charitable contribution, but he has to find out who it is first.

Twitter, the biggest social media site next to Facebook, has many accounts that are done in fun. There are plenty of Twitter users who make up accounts in fun, but the Rahm Emanuel fake account has seemed to fool a lot of people and cause quite a stir. The account was set up to poke fun at Rahm and his notoriously foul mouth as he sets up shop in Chicago to try and become the mayor. However, the Twitter account has 27,000 followers, but his own account only has 7,000. This means that people are following the fake and foul mouthed version of himself. It’s thrown a lot of people and made people think that he is tweeting on that account.

So Rahm has decided that if the person who is responsible for the tweets come forward he will donate five thousand dollars to the charity of their choice as soon as the election is over. That is exactly what he needs to reward people who come forward. It’s nice to see a person who has a mind for charity first and that makes everything feel better about him. Rahm is playing it right and it could be the kind of savvy public relations move that gets him an election.

The Charities And How The Taxes Work

Many people are interested in making tax deductible contributions to local charities. It’s the best of both worlds. They get to give money back and give for a good cause, but they also get the thanking and the backing of the federal government. They are allowed to write off the money. That means that while the money goes to the charities it is now considered money that cannot be taxed by the government. This means that there overall taxable income goes down. This is a brilliant idea by the federal government to encourage Americans to help each other in time of need and know that it is really only a benefit to you.

The way this works is that there is a children’s charity out there that you give money to. That charity is worth your time and you give 500 dollars to them, then later on in the year you give the same amount of $500 dollars. This means that when it’s time for taxes you can claim a $1000 dollars to the charity. You will need forms and proof of that money and there is a some charities you cannot go through to get this. However, you won’t need to worry too much as it’s easy to claim. So if you were making 45,000 a year and the government said it was going to tax you on every penny(which doesn’t often happen but we’ll pretend for arguments sake) then you could now only be taxed on $44,000. This could land you in a very different tax bracket. So if you are interested in giving to the charity know that it could save you a considerable amount of money. However that shouldn’t be the only reason you are doing it and giving back. The truth is that there are plenty of really good charities out there and they help people and that should be your only motive for giving. Otherwise it’s not worth it just for the tax break.

Holding Events for Charity

One of the best ways to raise money for a charity and create a lot of excitement is to host events. While it can take just a bit of planning to undertake, the reward is high and it will be worth it in the end. Holding events for the benefit of respected charities is something that should be considered for anyone looking to dive into such efforts.

A simple idea is to host a poker tournament. Once you find a site for the event, the rest is quite simple. You can buy or rent poker tables and even find an organization to sponsor a grand prize.

The entry fee for contestants would be used to raise money for the charity. You can also figure in drinks as well, where concession proceeds could add to the organization’s goal in regards to how much money is raised.

Other ideas can use similar lines of thinking. Music-related events are great for creating a lot of buzz within a community. Local musicians who are looking for some exposure and willing to support a great cause could play, and you could charge a flat ticket price. Donations and food/drink revenue, combined with the ticket proceeds, could outweigh the initial costs to make a difference for the organization.

If you are planning events like these with others, identify possibilities that would appeal within the community. Poker tournaments, music festivals, and charity auctions are just a few ideas to make a difference and help out a valuable organization within the community.

After these options are identified, contact a charitable organization in order to coordinate your efforts. The charity can likely provide marketing for the event, as well as decorations and other ideas that can help the event succeed. Holding an event for a charity is a great way to support an organization that truly makes a difference.
