Giving to charity can be a very rewarding experience for many. The world is made up of all kinds of people from varying socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of those who are from a higher socioeconomic bracket tend to give money to charities. They tend to do this by hosting gala events which can sometimes raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity.

But what if you do not have any extra cash to donate but are still wanting to help out somehow? Here are some ways to donate to charity besides donating money.

Clothing

Let’s face it; many people have hundreds of items sitting in their closets that they just don’t wear. Some people have items in their closets with the price tags still attached! Cleaning out your closet and donating the clothing to a charity is a great way to help out. The clothes will either be given directly to those in need or they will be placed for sale in a thrift shop.

Furniture

Many people living under the poverty line have great difficulty buying the furniture they need. It may be something small like a coffee table or side table, or something bigger like a desk or a kitchen table and chairs. Instead of taking your old furniture to the rubbish dump, see if there is a local charity that will come and collect it for you.

Time

The one thing that most charities are in need of is help from volunteers. A charity can never have too many people to help out, even if it’s in the smallest way. Ring around to charities in your area.

If you are planning to work with a charity where you have to interact with people you should make it a charity where the affliction is something that you are passionate about. You must do whatever you have to do to make sure that you are the best you can be to those people and being a person who is interested in the charity will make all the difference in the world. People will be able to connect with you when they can relate to your story. You are supposed to be able to show them just how much you care and how much you understand and sympathize with their story. Don’t make the mistake of getting yourself into a situation of working for a charity that you don’t feel connected to. You won’t ever get on well that way.

Charity Starts At Home

There are plenty of you out there wondering just where you can give your money and your time, but you should be aware that your charity should begin in the home. No, that doesn’t mean that you should spend the rest of your life giving money away to the people you live with, but it’s just as nice to help someone you know than someone you have never met. While the needs of the person might be different, here are a few things that you can do in order to start the mantra of charity begins at home.

The first thing that you should consider is that there are plenty of people out there who you know that need help with their kids. You should give charity to them by agreeing to come over and watch their kid. If you don’t have kids than you might not know but there are plenty parents out there who could really use a break. So make it your mission for an after noon to give them a break from everything that has been going on. It will make such a difference in the long run.

If you know an elderly person who is in need of some work done around their house, you will want to make sure that you are diligent and that you get the work done for them. Plenty of elderly peple can really use a helping hand and it will make you feel good about yourself. It’s a great thing you can do for others and it starts right at home.

Making the Best Decision Possible For Companies

The idea of charity these days is a very big thing. There are plenty of people out there who have been bitten by the bug of goodwill. There are also people out there who believe that there are ways to give and that you should be giving as much as possible.

Good thing for those people that employers agree. These days the companies that you work for are seeing the benefits of giving and they are finding easier ways to get you in on the action. These days the companies know that the government is allowing them to get huge tax breaks by giving to charity. These companies are able to keep away the money that the government is seeing just by being good natured and giving to those less fortunate. Well, better than just telling the rest of the country that they are giving, they decide to show their giving spirit through their employees.

These days the companies are allowing their employees to give their hard earned money to the charity of their choice. This is a nice way to get everyone involved on the action. They are picking out a few charities where a company can have their money deducted right from their payroll. This makes giving so easy for the employee and it’s trackable for them. The other thing they do is they often match the money that is coming in up to a certain percentage. This allows them to make a big splash in the charity department and keep a lot of money away from the government. It’s all part of the movement the whole world is doing to give back. It’s a great feeling and it’s great when the company can get involved and give back.

The Reason For Giving Back

We always talk about giving back. We talk about where to give money and how to give your time. It’s important to give back and why you should. But what do you really give back for? If you are giving back because of sweet tax breaks or a really cool mention in the local paper than you have been giving back for the wrong reasons. Charity isn’t about what it can do for you. So, if it’s not about you, and it’s about others, then why are you not giving back?

The reality is that giving back is about being the very best that you can be. It’s about learning that while you have problems and they certainly won’t just go away, there are others out there who have it far worse than you do. It should serve as a reminder that for all the bad things in your life you should be grateful for the opportunities that you have.

You should give back to charity because people would do it for you. Or at the very least people should do it for you. It’s about a ying and a yang of life. It’s about people realizing that it’s about what you give back and what comes back to you that should be equal. It’s about stepping outside yourself and giving yourself to others. Once you can be thoughtful and generous with your time you can do just about anything. It’s the most important part of your day. It’s the best thing you do and you should be rewarded for it. Don’t make the mistake of losing your way. You deserve to help people and there are people that deserve to be helped. Giving back says a lot about the person you are.
