While many adults are familiar with the importance of community service, not all children are. In a world of materialism and gotta have it, the youth of America don’t always recognize the fact that there are people who are in need of help. Developing a strong sense of community service in your children will provide them with a broader understanding of the world and their place in it.

Still, it is often difficult to determine just how to include community service in your child’s life. There are several factors to consider.

  1. The child age
  2. The child’s maturity level
  3. The child’s abilities.

Taking these things in to account, you can begin to look for community service opportunities that may be ideal for your children.

One idea is to have children work in a soup kitchen. Younger children often find this to be both rewarding and a bit scary. It offers you the opportunity to demonstrate the differences in social classes and the real need for assistance in our country. Other ideas include helping out with local toy drives, visiting senior citizens, and even donating clothing.

Remember that in order for children to develop, we must first show them the way. Encourage your children to participate in community service opportunities and show them that it is not necessary to donate money to help those in need. Sometimes time and caring are all that is needed.

Introducing your child to community service is a lesson that will serve them well into adulthood.

The Reason To Give Back

It’s easy to get caught up in your own life. You lead a busy life that’s stressful. Still, it’s no excuse not to think about others. There are plenty of people out there who are in need and it’s important that you help them no matter what.  You can often do this conveniently and easily through various charity organizations like Kars for Kids.

It could be free medical care, construction of schools or similar services.

One of the great charities available to children is Kars for Kids. They accept the donation of cars and are helping those at risk youths who suffer from emotional, physical and educational distress get a better life. There are few charities out there that are more worthwhile than this.

Charities, no matter the target, deserve your financial consideration. It’s important to give back to those who are in need. It will give you an overwhelming sense of pride and that feeling cannot be measured. You can look online and find the charity that is right for you, but whatever you do, you should give back.

We are all aware of the various charities that are out there, but there are plenty out there that dont’ get the kind of publicity that they should. It’s hard for a charity to get the name out there. They must count on the word of mouth and their own public events to raise awareness. But the truth is there are plenty of good charities out there that you might have known about. Here are a few of the charities you could have been missing out there.

There is no more terrifying experience in the world than to find out that your child is missing. These are the problems that parents must go through and a charity like this is dedicated to making the fight a whole lot easier. This charity works round the clock with the local law enforcement in order to bring the missing persons home.

This is a great charity that is recognized by the better business bureau. There are plenty of charities who want to help kids to keep them from danger, but there are plenty of children who need to succeed and this charity focuses on helping all children of all backgrounds through providing educational information and programs to children all over the United States. This is the best part of these charities. They can give back to the children and they can make a difference in their lives.

This is a great charity that gives help to the suffering kids in Ethiopia. They provide immunizations to kids with HIV and are helping to save lives every day.

These charities are great to give back to and can all be found on the web. There is no greater feeling than the feeling of giving back.

Teaching Your Children about Volunteering

It is important to teach your children the value of volunteering their time. It will help build their character and instill in them a sense of community, service and gratitude. That is what volunteering is all about – giving back because you are grateful for the life you have and want to help others achieve happiness, too. Teaching your children at a young age means they will carry the love of volunteering for the rest of their lives.

Start by encouraging them to foster a love of giving. During the holidays, let your child pick a child off the Salvation Army angel tree. Then, let your child pick the toy that will be given to the needy child. Explain the reason behind buying a gift for a child that may not get anything else for Christmas. Make this a habit from a very young age. When your child is older, let them do the shopping on their own.

Encourage your child to join school-sponsored groups that volunteer in the community. It can be anything from planting trees to picking up litter on the side of the highway. Talk to the school and see what programs are offered that includes volunteering in the community. The important thing is that your child learns the importance of giving back. Volunteering with their peers will not only teach them the importance but it will also give them a chance to be involved with like-minded kids.

As your children grow into adults, they will continue to volunteer. They will have a sense of fulfillment and compassion that they will pass on to their own children. Giving back to the community is one of the greatest achievements your children will accomplish. They will grow into loving, kind and generous adults. Society needs more people like that, the kind that put the needs of others first.

Kids often have a warped sense of money and what it can give you. They believe the money their parents have is in endless supply. Helping the hungry may make them better understand that life changes and they could easily be in a position of less fortune. It’s always a good way to give a child a little perspective on the world.
