The Handball Association is a volunteer run organization. The main aim of this Association is to make people healthy and fit. In a recent study that it conducted, it was found that many Australians were becoming obese. This was a problem more with a shift in cultural paradigms. Australia is traditionally known for its outdoorsy attitude. Now this problem is startling in nature.
By offering programs in the school that encourage school children to take up sporting activities, the Handball Association is bringing back sports as the primary source of recreation in Australians. It all started in 2008, with the Association promoting the sport of handball. Building strong ties with all levels of schools, it made sure that enough people endorsed and played the game.
The Handball Association is run wholly and solely by volunteers. Any sport loving person who wants to join the cause of building a spirited and sporty nation is invited to be a volunteer here. The Association plans to increase the number of students playing the game of handball. The attempt is not to increase handball’s popularity, but to provide a recreational alternative to sports loving Australians.
Volunteers at this Association come from different spheres of activity. Volunteering is open for all. There is absolutely no restriction on who becomes a volunteer. Volunteers are the lifeline of this association. Volunteers do a variety of things for the Association. It could be administrative tasks, to writing content for their website, to coordination with other sporting organizations.
The Association has tons of activities going on round the year. It always has room for volunteers. Volunteers are encouraged to source funds for running the organization. Fund raising is an important component of volunteering activity here. No volunteer is compelled to do anything out of their choice. Their decisions are bestowed with themselves. Although there might be situations when volunteers for a particular activity might not be needed as there might be an existing volunteer discharging that function.
